Dear TÜMERians,

New Type Coronavirus (Covid-19) continues to be an evolving situation throughout the entire

world. The high risk of the spreading of coronavirus has made it a necessity to shift from in-

person education to a remote or online learning platform. In accordance with YÖK (Council

of Higher Education) and along with all the universities in Turkey, it has been decided that

Fatih Sultan Mehmet University TÜMER will resume online education.

We would like to ensure you that we strongly care that each student can have a healthy

learning experience and we constantly work with all our staff in order to minimize the effects

of the pandemic on our education system.

Under these conditions, we decided to continue our Turkish lessons in virtual classrooms,

where education and communication can be maintained in the most efficient way possible.

The same way as in-person education, your instructors will hand your regular homework and

control each of them weekly. Courses will remain the same way as usual. Besides, they will

be supported with visual materials as well as games and activities. Most important of all, you

will be able to attend the classes rather than waiting, thus, have the chance to improve you

speaking skills.

You do not have to have a computer to participate in online courses, you can also participate

with your mobile phones with the same performance.

For students who will not be able to benefit from online education*, it will be ensured that we

keep their educational rights on hold until the end of 2020. We make sure that their rights to

attend face-to-face classes will be remained. Yet, we strongly recommend you to take this

opportunity since there is no way that we can estimate an exact time to start our in-person

education. Considering the uncertainty, it is highly possible that you will feel estranged

towards Turkish during this waiting period.

Classes will resume online on April 6th and end on May 17th. In this term, each class will

participate with their former class. Lessons will be grouped in morning, afternoon and

evening. There will be no change in the total of usual course hours.

Note: For those who will not be able to attend online courses and wish to put their rights on

hold should inform us with an e-mail with their students number from the following address:

We love and we care about you. Stay home with online Turkish classes!
